Do I need to renew my license every year?

No. A Project Tracker license is a lifetime license. When you buy it, it comes with one years SMA (Support and Maintenance Agreement) which includes free upgrades.



What is the Support and Maintenance Agreement (SMA)?

Project Tracker comes with one years SMA (Support and Maintenance Agreement) which includes free upgrades. This can be renewed annually to keep taking advantage of the SMA and access to the latest version.



Can I install Project Tracker on more than one machine?

No. Project Tracker is per machine. If you wish to use on more than one machine you will need an additional license. Please contact us if you wish to inquire about a site license. You can move your license from one machine to another. Inside Project Tracker - select Help - About and make a note of your license Id and Password. Select the Application menu and then De-Activate. Then install Project Tracker on your new machine from http://projecttracker.fileburst.com/ProjectTracker.exe. This will start as a trial. You can enter your exisitng license details to Activate it.



How do I move my license to a new PC?

You can move your license from one machine to another. Inside Project Tracker - select Help - About and make a note of your license Id and Password. Select the Application menu and then De-Activate. Then install Project Tracker on your new machine from http://projecttracker.fileburst.com/ProjectTracker.exe. This will start as a trial. You can enter your exisitng license details to Activate it.

Primavera P6

How do I import P6 xer files?

Firstly you need to export a project file and if required a baseline from P6 as xer files. If the baseline is currently assigned to the project you will need to unassign it. You will then need to go to Project - Maintain Baselines - select the baseline and then click restore so that it appears in the EPS. Then in turn save the live project and baseline as separate xer files. You can select more than one project in an xer file if you wish to manage a portfolio or analyse a large project that is in separate projects. In Project Tracker select the Primavera P6 option on the Home tab and select XER file. Then select the Project xer and Baseline xer files. The name of the baseline can be changed in the box next to the baseline xer and this will appear in the legend. If you wish to craete a second curve from the baseline to show late dates, select the Use Late Dates from Baseline 1 as Baseline 2. Click Import to create the report.



How do I import directly from the P6 database?

This is only recommended if you are using a database on your own computer. In Project Tracker select the Primavera P6 option on the Home tab and select database. Connections can be made to SQL, Oracle or SQLLite databases. Select the required database type from the dropdown and complete the connection details as required. The example below shows a typical SQL connection. Click Test to test the connection. If that works click Connect. Then select the Project(s) to import. Select the baseline to use then click Import.

Microsoft Project

How do I import directly from Microsoft Project?

First of all we need to set up our project. The next step is to baseline the project so that we have something to compare against. Now as the project gets underway add progress at each status date. Change the status date in Microsoft Project as required. Now we can add progress against each activity. It's useful to insert a column for % complete. Optionally you can Update the project to move uncompleted work to after the Status date. This is useful to see the effects of any delays on the finish date of the project. Then in Project Tracker we choose to import from Microsoft Project. Select the baseline you wish to compare against and click Import.

How are the S Curves calculated?

This example is based on a Duration graph but is applicable to all other types. Assume a simple one task project 10 days long. Project Tracker reads each day to see how working many hours there are per day. Assuming an 8 hour day our s curve would look like this. The profile looks like this; There is no data on the 17th and 18th February as Project Tracker uses the task calendar when calculating working time. Baseline values are the same as the project has not been updated yet. If progress is added at 25% after one week and the the project updated we get this; In Project Tracker; The report tells us we are the project has slipped by 2.5 days. Additonally we see at the report date progress is 25% against a planned % of 50 from the baseline. We are told at the report date the project is 2.5 days behind schedule. This is calculated by taking the current actual hours (20) and seeing on what date in the baseline this number of hours should have been achieved. We can see it should have been done by the 14th February. The date difference between the actual date and when that number of hours should have been achieved on the baseline gives the behind schedule figure.



How do I change the data table (x axis) beneath the S Curves

From the View tab - select the Data Table button. Go to the Lines tab and make selections as required. The Options tab allows individual setting such as Cumulative data, month and year displays and decimal points.



How do I create multiple S Curve reports?

From the Scope Expander on the left of the screen click to select WBS, Activity Code or Resource specific curves. These can be saved into views for Batch Printing by clicking the Add View button on the Home tab.



How do I add a logo to my S Curves print?

From the Application menu select Print Settings Select the logo from the Options tab



How do I copy the S Curve to the clipboard?

Click the copy button then open the desired application (Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc) and click Paste.



How do I export data to Excel?

If you wish to export the data to Excel to create graohs in the spreadsheet, from the Home Tab, select the Export option then Export to Excel. Excel will open with the data prepared.

How do I move my license to a new PC using the customer portal

If you are unable to move your license using the deactivate option inside LOBTracker you can do this using the customer portal. You will need your customer ID and password which were sent to you when you purchased the software. Go to https://secure.softwarekey.com/solo/customers/Default.aspx?AuthorID=4787377 and enter the security details. Select Licenses and Activations Click the license to deactivate Select Manage Installations Click the Red Cross by the license to decativate Confirm if you wish to deactivate the license The license will now be deactivated and the software can be installed on a new PC and licensed using the details sent to you when it was purchased.



Primavera P6

How do I import P6 xer files?
